2FA Secure Login Available within RetailVista
With data security a hot topic for the last few years, and regular data breaches reported on the news, we wanted to make sure your business data is as secure as possible. Even this year we have heard of a data breach causing businesses to shut their doors in our own garden industry.
So what are NedFox doing to ensure that your back office data is secure?
NedFox’ development team have made sure that you have the option to enable 2FA (Two Factor Authorisation), along with the ability to block outside logins from non-trusted IP addresses. Two factor authorisation is now a common additional step used to login to online applications and websites, ensuring it is you and only you that is accessing your data.
2FA ensures that in addition to a correct login name and password, a user must also provide an activation code when logging in. The activation code must be generated by an authenticator app via a mobile phone. In practise this is very quick, just open the app and add the 2FA code to the RetailVista login screen. There are various authenticator apps, and RetailVista has been tested with the Apple, Microsoft, and Google authenticator apps.
These apps are all free. 2FA can be activated in the RetailVista settings options. Every user who logs in afterwards will be asked once to scan a QR barcode that RetailVista shows. The QR code ensures that RetailVista is added to the authenticator app and from that moment on the authenticator app shows a unique code that changes every 30 seconds. A user who does not have the authenticator app cannot log in with their account, even if the login name and password are known. The application administrator can set that 2FA is not required on certain user accounts so it is flexible to your needs.
IP Address Blocking
In addition to 2FA, you may also wish to limit the places in the world where it is possible to log in from. We are able to add a list of trusted IP addresses to ensure that only RetailVista users from certain locations are able to access the back office and data. This method allows us to mark certain IP addresses as safe and able to access data while restricting the other billions of IP addresses in the world. This is perfect for securing your data while still allowing for trusted staff, managers, owners and accounts companies to access what they need, when they need it.
If you would like to know more about 2FA and/or IP address restrictions, you can get in touch with your usual RetailVista representative who can guide you.
